Latinos con McKenna — the name of a group of Rob's Latino supporters — kicked off Tuesday night with 45 residents from across the state who came to hear Rob speak on creating new jobs, pushing for quality, innovative education, and reforming state government. The Latinos con McKenna kickoff coincided with the launch of Rob's Spanish-language website, another initiative to expand his growing coalition and remove barriers to access.

"As Attorney General, Rob has made serious efforts to reach out to Washington’s Latino community and hear first-hand what he can do to be a problem solver," said retired Mabton police chief Raul Almeida, who attended the kickoff last night with his daughter and grandson. "From his bill to crack down on illegal ‘notarios’ to his efforts to curb gang violence, Rob has worked on issues that matter to Latinos. His office has made protecting Spanish speakers from scams a priority. What I like about Rob is his focus on creating new jobs, improving public schools, and expanding access to our universities. Those are priorities that we can all get behind."

Since taking office, Rob has increased the accessibility of Washington's legal protections for Latinos by providing more forms in Spanish and staffing the Consumer Protection Division with Spanish-speaking staff.

As Albert Torres in tú Decides newspaper wrote, "Besides working to get out the vote for Rob, Latinos con McKenna will also serve as a mechanism through which Rob’s campaign will engage with the Hispanic community on issues of importance to them, giving the Hispanic community a stronger voice to help shape public policy and advise Rob on those issues."

"With his focus on supporting small businesses to promote economic growth and on making sure every child in Washington receives a quality education, his campaign for Governor has received positive feedback from the Hispanic groups he has already visited on the campaign trail."
